As shared by Kathleen M:
I have MST and my claim has been in the system for 12 years. My attorney seems confident but that doesn’t help me eat or keep a roof over my head. I get SSDI and 10% VA disability for a hip fracture from basic. I moved to AZ mainly for pain and mood relief. Even though I’m doing better than I was 10 years ago I cannot seem to get a leg up. I still have symptoms and was flagged as a high suicide risk. Sometimes I think that’s what they’re waiting for. I’ve got appointments set up with MH and WH. But I don’t know if I’ll be able to keep a roof over my head because of moving expenses, co-payments and other debts. I’m usually out of food the last two weeks of the month. I’m hoping I’ll be able to make my appointments using public transportation as I don’t have a POV. I’m going to be 57 next month and the only ‘furniture’ in my apartment is a TV and an inflatable mattress. I made poor choices before I was diagnosed with chronic PTSD and understood my behavior. But I’ve been clean and sober 9 years, off cigarettes 4 years, and off 9 medications, 3 of them narcotic. I don’t believe my situation is due to a lack of trying. Even if I can’t work, I have been volunteering for about 7 years. I’ve never reached out to you before because I know there are veterans that are worse off. But I’m reaching out now, I’m tired.
Notes from Crusaders:
She is asking for help to pay a $104.02 electric bill, a $48 monthly bus pass and $60 in groceries. We are planning to be able to pay her electric bill, order her groceries from Wal-mart and get her a bus pass. We will also reach out to Veterans in her area for used furniture and such for her apartment. With your generous donations we can give her the leg-up she is looking for. Please donate or share Kathleen’s story on your social media platforms. Tracey Nazarenus President Crusaders Valor For Veterans 303-324-7096
